The battery for the alarm went out, and so did the power supply. I came up with the most clever fix. only difference in the power supplies is that this one is DC and the one that came originally was AC.

SOOO.. you're using a DC power supply to power the battery part of the alarm?

not quite. The battery still can hold a charge by itself, but only for 5 minutes. A replacement battery is already on the way.

The battery in my FIOS box went out killing the whole thing. Ghetto-rigged it like this (except I stripped the PS and soldered/wrapped) for a couple weeks so I wouldn't be internetless waiting for the tech to come out.
The tech was totally like dafuq? Then I got a whole new unit for some reason. So success I suppose.
